The history of the outback of Crikvenica is connected to the nearby Vinodol. In the past, Romans ruled over this place and they build a road that connected northern Italy with Dalmatia. The mediaeval times have been remembered by the government of the Frankopan family.
Tribalj, Drivenik and Grižane have a very similar history because exactly this places combined represent the outback of Crikvenica. Drivenik has some evidence of the government of the Frankopan’s, the conserved castle from the 13th century. Grižane changed their looks after a strong earthquake in 1323.
The outback of Crikvenica has a rapturously history. In that time the Croatian language and the glagolitic writing was used, after that some of the villagers started to emigrate. The fishermen searched for better fishing spots so that some even emigrated to other continent.
